Shu Spirit Bird

This bronze sculpture was cast by hand and is a replica of a piece from the San Xing Dui (Three Star Mounds) archeological site near Chengdu, China. The site proved the existence of the ancient Shu civilization of Southern China. The Shu believed in the spiritual world and their cultural and medical beliefs revolved around a Tree of Life that was viewed as a Ling Shu (Spiritual Pivot) between Heaven and Earth. Shamans were seen to have the ability to transform themselves into Spirit Birds and ascend thru the Tree of Life to Heaven.
Though not widely understood or known outside of ancient family lineages, the belief system and spiritual practices of the Shu continue in the modern day. The Spirit Bird is understood to be a powerful talisman of Universal Love and a powerful vehicle of Qi and transformation.
