7 PM: Celebration at Riverside Church

Celebrate the official welcome of the international team of marchers with “Beyond Violence,” a multimedia program of inspirational talks and performances. Join us for an evening highlighting the marchers’ journey and achievements, including meetings with world leaders and their designation as emissaries of the groundbreaking “Charter for a World Without Violence” at the November ‘09 Berlin Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates.

19 h: Celebre la llegada oficial del equipo base internacional de la Marcha Mundial con la presentación multimedia “Mas alla de la Violencia” Con presentaciones y charlas inspiradoras. Acompañemos en la velada para destacar la travesía y sus logros de los Marchantes del equipo base , incluyendo sus reuniones con los leaderes mundiales y su designación como emisarios novedosos “ Fundadores de un mundo sin Violencia” otorgado en Noviembre en el Summit de los laureados al nobel de la Paz en Berlin.


Dr. Lafayette was a colleagues of Martin Luther King’s in the American Civil Rights Movement and one of the organizers of the Freedom Rides and the historic Selma-Montgomery March. He is a recognized authority on the strategy on nonviolent social change.

Rafael de la Rubia is the creator and spokesperson for the World March for Peace and Nonviolence and the founder of Mundo Sin Guerras (World Without Wars). Mr. de la Rubia has worked more than 35 years in the field of nonviolence, primarily through his association with the Humanist Movement.

Live Performances:

Salsa great Choco Orta will sing John Lennon’s song IMAGINE. Choco has been dubbed “the next Celia Cruz” by the New York Times.

Swiss Chris is an extraordinary New York drummer who combines Hip Hop and African rhythms. Chris was John Legend’s drummer and musical director from ‘03-’07, and he has performed and recorded with Wyclef Jean, James Blood Ulmer and Eminem. Chris will perform a drum solo at the event
